GROUP 3:
Ellie, daryl, Sarah, nicole, JEREMY, rick, Mickey
YOUR TASK:
This group's task is to use the information that group 1 and 2 will be giving you and the information you will collect on your own to create a news broadcast (or a public service announcement) regarding tsunamis, earthquakes, risks with those natural disasters, and what the Japanese can do to prepare for them and what can help them during and after the disasters. We've already picked rolls for the news room and these tasks are labeled by roll. Let's get to our tasks! If you need help, just ask!

PLEASE NOTE THAT TWO CLASS MEETINGS WILL BE HELD. ONE WILL REGARD SHARING LEARNED INFORMATION TO GROUP 3 AND THE OTHER WILL REGARD BRAINSTORMING A NEW TECHNOLOGY THAT CAN HELP THE JAPANESE DURING NATURAL DISASTERS. I WILL TELL YOU WHEN THESE MEETINGS WILL HAPPEN.
FIRST! ALL GROUP MEMBERS: In order to have a basis of knowledge to build your reports on, more information on the disaster itself will be needed. Using this link to the Live Science website, and using this Google document to help organize the answers, investigate what happened on March 11, 2011. All group members will participate and this must be complete before the next tasks can be started. Post your answers to the class community page.
TECH AND SET CREW: After your research meeting with the newscasters it will be time to get to work! Our news crew can't do a news show without a news desk or a newsroom! That's where this small group comes in. This group will be responsible for drawing out plans for and creating the news room where the anchors will be broadcasting. Also, this small group will be responsible for recording the news casters while they broadcast. Using the SketchUp application we learned about in the computer labs, create a small model of what the news room will look like. When you're finished, save your model, show me what you have planned, and we'll make it happen. Afterwards, a camera that will be used to film the broadcast will be provided for you to explore and experiment with.
NEWS ANCHORS: Using the information that is given to you and the information you have recovered yourselves, organize what you what to announce to the Japanese population. You are to write a script with what information you think would be helpful to others when a tsunami or an earthquake strikes. Follow these guidelines and start writing! Also, please view the video below to see how newscasters organize their information as a helpful hand.
Note: Your final script must be approved before it is aired!

ALL GROUP MEMBERS: Everyone will complete the following task. In order to present this new information, it would be a great idea to see what information about these natural disasters group 1 and 2 both found so this group has a better understanding of these natural disasters. Even though good reporters research topics themselves in order to get a story put together, sometimes a research team is needed. Consider group 1 and 2 part of your research team. After their research is compiled, we'll hold a classroom meeting in which group 1 and 2 will share with you their found information. Be sure to take notes!
